ROYAL ARCH CHAPTER

In Alnwick, we host two Chapters: The Alnwick R.A.C. meets on the evening of the third Thursday in January, March, May, September, and November, and the Farne R.A.C. meets on the fourth Friday in May and July.

The ceremony begins with the destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, leading to the captives being taken to Babylon. After seventy years, they were released by Cyrus, the King of Persia, and returned to their native lands. They discovered that a second temple was being built on the ruins of the original, and they volunteered to assist with the work. After being tested on their ancestry, they were given tools and began their work.

As the ceremony continues, discoveries are made, and the Candidate is taken on a journey to find the secrets lost in the Craft Degree. It is a colourful and engaging ceremony open to all Master Masons and is encouraged as the "next step" on their Masonic journey of discovery.
